BRIEF PRESENTATION The Carpathian Protected Area Management Effectiveness Tracking Tool (CPAMETT) has been developed within the 2012 Protected Areas for a Living Planet Programme, which is a global programme initiated by WWF to promote and support the implementation of the Programme of Work on Protected Areas, a component of the Convention on the Biological Diversity (CBD PoW PA).
The Tool has been developed based on the Management Effectiveness Tracking Tool (METT)(developed by the World Bank and WWF). The assessment of management effectiveness of protected areas, using the CPAMETT, is performed using the WCPA (World Commission on Protected Areas) Framework. For using the tool, please visit the "On-line Use / Instructions" section below. The guidelines for using the tool will be available soon. For more information please contact Cristian-Remus Papp, papp_cr@yahoo.co.uk, or cristian.remus.papp@wwf.panda.org. WHY / FOR WHOM? >Purpose of the Tool:
- Effective adaptive management in Carpathian protected areas; - Implementation of the CBD Programme of Work on Protected Areas (PoWPA); - Support the development of an effective Carpathian Network of Protected Areas. The CPAMETT is dedicated to protected area managers/ administrations to help track and monitor progress in the achievement of the protected area management effectiveness targets. GUIDELINES FOR USING THE CPAMETT The guidelines will be available soon.
ON-LINE USE / INSTRUCTIONS As a PA manager or Administrator, you have to register your PA first. For this, enter the first part of the tool - "CPAMETT - Carpathian Protected Area Management Effectiveness Tracking Tool". Then click on "Register a new protected area" and start entering basic information about your PA. After completing and saving the first form, a code (password) is sent to the email address provided at the beginning of the form. You can login now as a registered user by selecting the name of your own PA (appears after the registration in the drop-down list) in the first part of the tool, and the code (password) sent by the tool to the email address (provided in the first form). You can continue the evaluation process with the “Assessment form”.
Warning: the assessment is really useful if done in the team. Due to the discussions, the time you have to spend on the internet can be long. If your internet connection is not working properly or if it is not reliable and the session is interrupted, you might loose some of your data. In this case, we would advice you to work on a printed form as well (so that in case the forms are not saved on-line from the beginning, you can transfer the data later to the internet). |
